Within the framework of the
“Qaldirg‘och” Project of the UWED Legal Clinic, a meeting was organized for students with a strong interest in gender studies, children’s rights, and family law on June 20th 2025. The discussion was held with
Judge Zulfia Nuralieva of the Mirzo-Ulugbek District Family Court, whose professional practice focuses on cases involving
children, family disputes, and the protection of minors.
During the meeting, students had the opportunity to engage in an open dialogue on: • judicial practice in cases concerning children and adolescents,
• gender-sensitive approaches in family and child-related disputes,
• challenges faced by courts when dealing with cases of violence against children,
• and the application of international child protection standards in national legal practice.
Judge Nuralieva shared practical insights from her experience, highlighting the importance of a
child-centered approach, sensitivity to gender-specific issues, and the role of the judiciary in ensuring effective protection of children’s rights. The meeting created a valuable space for students to connect
academic knowledge with real judicial practice, ask substantive questions, and reflect on the role of law in protecting vulnerable groups.
Such discussions are an important part of the “Qaldirg‘och” Project’s mission to promote
legal awareness, gender equality, and child protection through dialogue between students and legal practitioners.
