"Fundamentals in Childrens' Access to Justice: International Standards and Best Practices" - Lecture by Justice Renate Winter
On April 24, 2026, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy had the honor of hosting a distinguished guest, Renate Winter, former Chairperson of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child and UNICEF International Consultant on Justice for Children. The visit was organized in cooperation with UNICEF, within the framework of ongoing collaboration aimed at promoting international standards in the field of children’s rights and access to justice.
The event took place in the format of a roundtable discussion on the topic "Fundamentals in Childrens' Access to Justice: International Standards and Best Practices" and brought together second- and third-year students of the University’s Law Clinic. The lecture focused on the foundations of access to justice for children, highlighting international standards and best practices. The event was opened with welcoming remarks by the Dean of the University, Murataev Serikbek Alpamisovich, and the Director of the Legal Clinic, Ubaydullaev Ziyodulla Sagdullayevich, who emphasized the importance of strengthening practical legal education and international cooperation.
The discussion was moderated by fourth-year students Amina Erkinova and Gulbakhar Jalgasbaeva. As part of the event, they also presented the Legal Clinic’s project “Qaldirg’och,” aimed at enhancing legal awareness and support mechanisms for vulnerable groups of young girls.
During the session, students actively engaged with Justice Winter, discussing key challenges and developments in ensuring effective access to justice for children at both national and international levels. The event concluded with a guided tour of the University’s Legal Clinic, where guests were introduced to its activities, initiatives, and ongoing projects.
